As of late, IBM is racing around acquiring company after company, especially in the IT and software market. Recent acquisitions include:
- Cast Iron Systems (SaaS cloud integration)
- Cognos (Business Intelligence)
- Coremetrics (Web-based analytics)
- BigFix (Systems and Security Management)
- Sterling Commerce (B2B Commerce Solutions)
Among their largest acquisitions was the recent $1.4 billion dollar agreement to purchase Sterling Commerce (formerly an AT&T company).
